Request a TeraGrid Account

Why a Teragrid account?

  • You get up to 30,000 hours in computing time, for less than 30 minutes of your time.

Pre-requisite(s):

  • You need a CV in either ps, htm/html, doc or pdf format. It can be very short.
  • You need a proposal. It can also be very short.

Steps involved in requesting a Teragrid account:

Note: You can save and come back later to finish; when you go from one page to the next, saves are automatic.]

  1. Go to https://pops-submit.ci-partnership.org/
    Note: This will open a new window, in addition to these instructions, so you can work with both

  2. Click on "Create POPS login" on the left-hand side menu

    • A window pops up; Go ahead and create an account for yourself.

  3. Click on "Use POPS login" (again on the left-hand side menu) and log in using the account you created in the previous step; you will be taken to the Proposal Submission Home page; click on New

  4. You will be taken to the Total Number of Service Units for Your New Proposal page, click on the 0 - 10,000 (TeraGrid only: 0 - 30,000) radio button, and then the Continue button

  5. In the new window, click on DAC-TG (Development Allocation Committee for TeraGrid)

  6. Next, fill out the Principal Investigator Information, click on Next ->Co-PI Information
    Note: Only fields marked with a * are required. Feel free to ignore the DN field or you could fill the DN field if you have one

  7. Fill out Co-PI Information if you want one or more co-PIs in your project. Note that you are required to select the country in this form. Then click on Next -> Proposal Information

  8. Fill out Proposal Information including an abstract (sample proposal abstract language), then click on Next -> Supporting Grants

  9. Optional Step: Unless you have supporting grant information, leave all the fields blank! If you indeed have supporting grant information, then fill the form out. Then click on Next -> Resource Request

  10. Fill out Resource Request page:

    • Enter some value in the 1-30000 SU range (Recommended: 30000)
    • Choose Yes/No to Large Intensive Runs (Recommended: No for DAC allocations)
    • Enter some number of processors (that you expect to use)
    • Choose language(s)
    • Recommended: No for cross-site and multi-site

    Then click on Next -> Proposal/Attachments

  11. Upload CV and Save: Upload your CV using Browse button (next to "PI CV document") in one of the following formats:

    • PS
    • PDF
    • DOC
    • HTM/HTML

    And choose appropriate format Extension.

    Finally, click on Save To Date (on the left-hand side menu), and then Final Submission! The submission status on the left-hand side menu should change to Submitted.

    Note: A window should appear with all your information; If it does not, click on Submission Summary to view it
